Rated 5 out of 5 by Something different Looking forward to playing with this new to me jig. I will be using anything I make on it for my card making. Not used yet but the demos looked good. It was good value so I had to buy it whilst it was available. If like me you like to try new things it would be worth trying whilst it is at a reasonable price. 13 December 2014

Rated 4 out of 5 by This is a very useful gadget This item was a little expensive, it's not very big and the bag was too small to fit it in properly with the ribbons on one side not in the channel to pull it closed. 21 February 2015

Create stunning ganutell flower shapes and other passementerie projects with this versatile Petal and Leaf Jig set from Gina B which includes 20 petal and leaf patterns!

Ganutell (silk-wrapped wire flowers) and other forms of wired passementerie often include small shapes that are repeated, such as petals.

Traditional wire jigs have the holes for the pegs laid out in grids, which means that curved shapes often have ridges and points where they aren't wanted!

However, this jig has been designed with holes placed so that smoother curves than standard pegboards can be achieved, allowing for more naturalistic wire shapes.

  • Clear top to hold patterns in place
  • Four anti-slip silicone feet

Contents:

  • 1 x Petal and Leaf Jig:
    • Pegs

About Ganutell:

Ganutell is the name for small flowers created using a coiled wire. The word is derived from cannetile (French), cannotiglio (Italian), and canotilla (Spanish) which means 'coiled wire'.

In English, we call this wire perl, because it resembles a string of beads when tight. This type of flower has been made in Europe since at least the 15th century.  They were widely used to decorate churches and shrines. Variations are still used in modern passementerie to create trimmings, and traditional church decorations are still made in Malta.

These modern designs, inspired by British flowers, make a pretty centrepiece or can be used individually in jewellery, tiaras and as embellishment.

About Gina B:

Gina Barrett specialises in the study, recreation and reconstruction of passementerie (textile trimmings) techniques of the past. She has provided reconstructions and unique designs for film, theatre, museums and private individuals around the world and has written numerous articles, papers, and other publications on the subject.

Gina-B Silkworks designs and produces a variety of craft kits, books, DVDs and other items with an emphasis on hand textiles and passementerie. The aim is to encourage and promote many of these almost-lost arts.
