Brother ScanNCut

Brother ScanNCut 4.4 5 257 257
the best cutting machine out I have another cutting machine, purchased approx 3 years ago, which I have never been able to master, The Brother ScanNCut looked so easy to use, and is. I have used it to create table name cards for my sons wedding, cutting out 100 sets of cards and their toppings, with no problems at all. Also perfect for cutting out stamped images, with and without a border. The amount of shapes and sizes you can cut is just fantastic. Brother Brian is out on my work table at all times ready to use, 11 May 2015
Extremely disappointing. I bought this when it was on offer at £349 for members. I thought I'd give it a try as I wanted to save time cutting and spend more time crafting and creating cards. However the mat was so sticky at first i spent ages getting the residue of my card off it, within a few cuts the stickiness went completely. I found the scanner so frustrating, it would sometimes pic up something intricate but not something simple and it was inconsistent ... It would recognise separate things in an image then it wouldn't. I felt it was not worth what I had paid, even at this lower price. I've found a much cheaper, easier to use machine which gives better results. 24 June 2015
Fantastic Must Have Machine I love the Brother ScanNCut although I must admit that I did take a long time mulling over the price before I actually bought one. Even after I had bought it I still fretted about paying so much for one machine. I already had a Silhouette Cameo machine and a Cricut machine both of which I loved but didn't use as much as I thought I would. Anyway, my Brother ScanNCut arrived and I had a little play with it. I found it fairly easy to work although reading my way through the CD Rom manual was a bit much for me because I am dyslexic and being presented with lots of instructions invariably proves too much for me. I left the machine alone for a few weeks until my printer broke and the new one I purchased refused to take any card that was above 150gsm. In fact even the 150gsm often wouldn't go through. Suddenly I was in a month of family birthdays with no way of making my usual 3D birthday cards. Thankfully, although I am dyslexic, inspiration does hit me when I have a problem and this time was no different. I printed off the templates I wanted to use onto normal printer paper. Next I scanned them into the Brother ScanNCut and proceeded to do the alterations I wanted via the little screen and saved the completed templates. The software that is installed on the machine does everything I would normally do by hand or using the computer which I find leaves my eyes very sore and tired. I also loved the fact that the Brother ScanNCut was so quick and easy to use once I had the hang of it. Finally I chose the patterned card I wanted to use, popped it into the Brother ScanNCut, recalled my saved templates and instructed the machine to cut. The results were perfect and I was using 300gsm card. There was no rucking of the card, every line was straight, it only cut where I wanted it to cut and the whole job was done in a fraction of the time. I cut the card on number 7 of the blade and given that the blade can be altered right up to 12 it obviously can cut through pretty thick materials without problem. I am actually disabled and wear splints on both hands and wrists which in the past made designing and cutting out quite painful which meant that sometimes it took me a few days to complete a project. I can honestly say that I don't know how I managed before I bought this machine. Not only has it saved me buying another printer but I can complete several projects in one day! It's so terrific to be able to save all my templates either in the machine itself or onto a memory card (or you can do both if like me you want to be doubly sure it stays saved!) The Brother ScanNCut is such a fantastic machine it is well worth the high price tag. It's the best scan/cut machine I've ever had and it is certainly great to find that you don't need to connect it to a computer. Using it is basically common sense and once you've learned how to use it, everything else just falls into place. I may have procrastinated over buying it initially but I am so very glad I bought it in the end. With this machine, I doubt you will ever need to buy another scan/cut machine ever again but then with companies coming out with new innovative ideas who knows what the next machine will be able to do. 23 June 2015
WOW, WOW, WOW Admittedly I haven't had a chance to use my new Brother Scan & Cut much yet, but within 10 minutes, I had cut a basic shape out!. I already own a Silhouette Portrait machine but the cut with the Brother Scan and Cut is far superior. It seems a much more solid machine and the cut is a lot cleaner than with the Silhouette. I also purchased Mel Heaton's instructional DVD and this has really given me the confidence to try different projects. It is a considered purchase, but if you craft on a regular basis, then I have no hesitation in recommending this machine. 08 June 2015
I'm very disappointed with the Brother cut and scan machine I bought the machine nearly 18 months ago, tried it but could not get it to work so stupidly put it away. Have tried using it several times since without success. I have bought new mats and Melanie's DVD, the DVD is very good but unfortunately I must be the numpty of all numpty's as what Melanie makes look very easy does not work for me. I'm going through so much card that I have given up and gone back to my Big Shot and dies which are great. Unfortunately I threw the box out otherwise I would try to sell it on ebay and recoup some of my money, for the time being it is back in storage. The mats are so sticky that it is impossible to remove the card after using. The standard blade only seems to drag and tear the card. Wish I had returned it straight away as it is a lot of money to waste. 08 June 2015
Well worth the wait ! I have saved up for this machine twice and had to use the money for emergencies...but after shear determination i finally bought it ! It does everything ! It's easy to use and yes....out of the box and first project done in minutes. I have used it every day so really good value for money...feel like I'm making savings already. Luv it !!!! 08 June 2015
I love it! Easy to use straight out of the box so i was cutting out shapes and mats for two identical cards within minutes. I toyed with getting this when it first came out but thought I wouldn't use it much as I could do the cutting myself. Some of it I can (eg matting and layering) but not with the speed and accuracy of the brother scan n cut. Dies provide shapes but not in the infinite sizing that this machine can. I found scan n cut canvas and downloaded loads of files; it would cost a fortune to buy in die form what I have downloaded for free. Mel's demos are highly instructive and enabled me to get up and running in no time at all. I have dexterity problems and use electronic machines where possible to alleviate the pain in my hands and arms that manual crafting causes. I get the same pleasure from my crafting but without as much discomfort which means I can craft for much longer, so it's win win for me. If, like me, you are sitting on the fence about this machine then sit no more. Take the plunge; you'll never look back! 08 June 2015
Brilliant Machine I have been waiting for a machine like this, it is so much easier than having to use the scissors all the time to cut out cards, it is a brilliant and wonderful piece of techno wizardry. 04 June 2015

Welcome to the Brother CM600DX ScanNCut, winner of the CHA 2014 Hot Product Award - the machine that will change your crafting forever! A European premiere and exclusive to Create and Craft, the ScanNCut is the first home and hobby cutting machine that can take your scanned images, photos or hand-drawn sketches and turn them into unique cutting designs - without the need or expense of a computer, software or pricey cartridges!

The machine contains 600 built-in designs, including 500 resizeable shapes, 100 quilt and appliqué patterns and five fonts. Choose from basic shapes, intricate designs, borders, quilt patterns, fonts and more - simply select a design, and then cut it on your choice of materials.

In the Pattern Mode you can quickly create precision paper and fabric cut-outs - select a pattern, edit it to create your own design, and then load craft paper or fabric to be cut. In the Scan Mode, the 300 dots per inch scanner will scan an illustration, photo, or your own drawing to create personalised cut designs. It has a scanning width of up to 11.7", and the design can then be cut out or saved as data to use later.

You can easily cut precise fabric shapes, and by pairing the erasable draw function with cutting, you can also draw your seam allowance and get precise sewing guidelines. With the ScanNCut, you can change your cut file, whether it's from a previous scanned image or a built-in design, then recreate the design into a drawing in virtually seconds!
