Brother ScanNCut

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 267 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by the best cutting machine out I have another cutting machine, purchased approx 3 years ago, which I have never been able to master, The Brother ScanNCut looked so easy to use, and is. I have used it to create table name cards for my sons wedding, cutting out 100 sets of cards and their toppings, with no problems at all. Also perfect for cutting out stamped images, with and without a border. The amount of shapes and sizes you can cut is just fantastic. Brother Brian is out on my work table at all times ready to use, 11 May 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by IT teaches YOU, it's amazing. I don't know what I ever done without it. I use it most days for drawing and cutting. I have so many patterns because it is so easy to use. The manual (on CD) is so easy to follow. There doesn't seem to be an end to what this wonderful machine is capable of. I can't praise Brother enough for bringing this to us. Every crafter should have one. 25 August 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by I am still learning how to use it I am not sure at this point if this product is one for quilters. I am paticularly disappointed by the way in which fabric sticks to the support mat. Any tips? 25 August 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love it Only just had this machine but so far seems fantastic, got it out the box and scanned some tags I had printed onto card and it cut them out quickly and perfectly, which would have taken at least 30 minutes by hand and would not have been as perfect. I am having fun trying different things with the machine and so far I love it. With the bundle I received which included the pen holder and pens, extra mats, deep cut blade holder and blades, scanning mat, project books etc: you have every thing you need to get going and try every thing. 23 August 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by I love this cutter Although I have not had this long I love it. I followed the DVD that Mel made which as a beginner I found really useful. The first thing I cut worked a treat nice clean cut I was really cuffed with it, I will use this loads and hopefully get better and better each time, this is not going back. 18 August 2015

Rated 4 out of 5 by advertised as not needing pc - but you do to read the instructions. Also the low tack mat does not stick to the products a little disappointed with it.It was bought by my partner for my birthday - and even he said it doesn't do what it says on the box! I had to take the cd to work and ask my boss to print the instructions as it is awkward having room to operate the scan n cut and having the laptop on to read the instructions especially when often you have to refer back to another page. I have wasted so much paper and card because they do not adhere to to the mat very well making it difficult to cut. Also, when using the direct cut from a scanned image - it doesn't tell you that it doesn't recognise lighter colours. I tried to cut out an oval frame that consisted of an inner picture and an outer frame (like a Victorian photo frame) and it didn't recognise the outer as it was too light. I even drew round it in black pen as pencil didn't work. Eventually I cut it by hand!!! Not the result I wanted at £400+ Over time I will hopefully get used to it;; but it certainly isn't as straight forward as advertised. It is a lot of money to spend when it doesn't do what it says. 12 July 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Loving it I have had the scanNcut for just over a week and am getting more confidant by the day with it, I found it difficult in the beginning as I have a cricut and they are as different as chalk and cheese. However with much trial and error and various trips to You Tube I have finally mastered it. The DVD is really good and explains everything really well, but I don't have a DVD player in my craft room by the time I had got started I had forgotten everything that Melanie said. Registering with Canvas was a saga in itself, in the end I had to get another email address to get the link to work. I am now up and running and cooking on gas. The scan facility is amazing, I make a lot of flowers using stamps so I save so much time cutting them out, even the smaller ones cut out beautidully 10 July 2015

Welcome to the Brother CM600DX ScanNCut, winner of the CHA 2014 Hot Product Award - the machine that will change your crafting forever! A European premiere and exclusive to Create and Craft, the ScanNCut is the first home and hobby cutting machine that can take your scanned images, photos or hand-drawn sketches and turn them into unique cutting designs - without the need or expense of a computer, software or pricey cartridges!

The machine contains 600 built-in designs, including 500 resizeable shapes, 100 quilt and appliqué patterns and five fonts. Choose from basic shapes, intricate designs, borders, quilt patterns, fonts and more - simply select a design, and then cut it on your choice of materials.

In the Pattern Mode you can quickly create precision paper and fabric cut-outs - select a pattern, edit it to create your own design, and then load craft paper or fabric to be cut. In the Scan Mode, the 300 dots per inch scanner will scan an illustration, photo, or your own drawing to create personalised cut designs. It has a scanning width of up to 11.7", and the design can then be cut out or saved as data to use later.

You can easily cut precise fabric shapes, and by pairing the erasable draw function with cutting, you can also draw your seam allowance and get precise sewing guidelines.
